In coffee production, the focus is usually on the beans, while the fruit shells are often discarded as waste. BADER purchases these shells from local farmers and transforms them into a tanning powder called Cascara. Preliminary data indicates that around 171.9 million bags of coffee were produced globally in 2020, providing an abundant supply of Cascara.
Our leather is tanned using Cascara powder derived from coffee fruit shells, ensuring it is entirely chrome-free. By utilizing renewable resources, we are committed to protecting the environment.
Thousands of families depend on coffee cultivation, harvesting and production. Unfortunately, the fruit shells of the coffee beans are often discarded as waste. BADER purchases these dried fruit shells from local farmers in Mexico, Ethiopia, China, and Thailand, providing them with a second source of income. Our motto:
